6 Things to Know About the Mini Goldendoodles
Golden retrievers and poodles are some of the most popular dog breeds in the world. And, they are popular for a good reason. Both of these breeds are playful, friendly towards both adults and children, and very intelligent. They can quickly learn and understand gestures and words. But, what if I told you that there is a combination between these two breeds? The result of breeding these two types of dogs is called a Goldendoodle. But, in this article, I want to specifically focus on mini Goldendoodles.
The difference is that their growth is much smaller than the regular golden retriever and a regular pool. It is as tiny as a miniature poodle. This makes it a perfect choice for anyone that has never had a dog before and for those that do not have the time and resources to handle a larger dog such as a golden retriever.
This breed sounds like a good choice for many people, but to solidify your decision, I wanted to share all the things you should know about the mini Goldendoodle.
It is a new breed
One of the things that you have to understand about the miniature Goldendoodle is the fact that this is an entirely new breed. It is something that you will very rarely see since it is so new.
Although I understand that for most people this does not mean anything, but if you want your dog to be a little bit more unique than any other, this is an important fact.
However, you should also know that this breed is not currently recognized by the International Canine Association.
Very attached and affectionate
Oftentimes, smaller breeds can quickly connect with their owners. Once they do, the dog never wants to separate from its owner. With this breed, it is no different. Many Goldendoodles are very affectionate and will get very attached to you or anyone else in your household.
Of course, there is a slight disadvantage to this kind of affection which is separation anxiety, but overall it is a good thing.
Once the dog is closely attached to you, it will be very obedient and will obey every order. Although this might not apply to others in your household. But, with enough training, they will start to obey the orders of others.
Either way, having an affectionate dog is great. Whenever you feel lonely and need someone by your side, your little furry friend will always be there with you.
They love people
Yes, your puppy will be mostly attached to you, but that does not mean they will not pay attention to any other people. They love being around and playing with people. They are very friendly. So, if you have friends around or if your friends bring their children, your puppy will have no trouble readjusting to all these new people.
However, this can turn into a problem when you are outside, especially if your mini Goldendoodle is off the leash. Your puppy can be frequently distracted by every person that passes. This distraction leads to jumping at their feet, barking, etc.
Of course, nothing bad will happen out of that kind of situation, but it is always much better to teach your dog not to jump at people’s feet, bark at them or run at them.
Of course, to successfully teach them, you will need to ensure that you are providing your Goldendoodle with the right type of training as suggested by We Love Doodles.
The perfect apartment dog
A golden retriever is definitely not the breed that you would want to keep inside of an apartment. This breed is simply too large to keep in an enclosed space all the time. They require an open space where they can spend their energy.
However, a poodle which is a much smaller breed can have tons of fun in a small apartment. It doesn’t an entire house and a backyard to spend its energy. Fortunately, when it comes to this topic, Goldendoodles take on the poodle’s characteristic making get the perfect dog for apartment living.
Of course, your puppy will still require regular walks throughout the day. Preferably once in the morning and once at night. Ideally, you should go on three walks every day. This will satisfy their needs to spend energy and to socialize with other dogs.
Do not worry, if you do not have the time to dedicate three walks a day, it has nothing too serious. Your dog can be just as happy even inside an apartment.
Easy to train and intelligent
Golden retrievers are an intelligent breed, but they can be a bit dense at times. Even though they could easily go through training, they do not want to. It is like a child with ADHD. In other words, training a golden retriever can sometimes be difficult, but with enough effort, you will succeed
On the other hand, poodles are just as intelligent, but the difference is that they will constantly keep their focus and interest on you. The training process is much easier and faster.
The combination of these two breeds results in a very intelligent mix, making the miniature Goldendoodle very responsive to any kind of training. So, even if you do not have any experience with training dogs, you could teach them all kinds of orders and tricks.
Hypoallergenic
One of the great things about Goldendoodles is the fact that they are hypoallergenic. This means that even if you do have trouble with dog hair allergies, you will not have any problems around a Goldendoodle.
It also rarely sheds, so you will not have to worry about picking up here from every piece of clothes you have.
As you can see, overall, the miniature Goldendoodle is a great dog breed and it can easily fit into anyone’s lifestyle. By understanding these things that must know about this breed, you will not have any kind of problems while raising them. I hope that this article was informative enough and that it will help you with your Goldendoodle in the future.
