A widow (Carey Mulligan) hires an amateur archaeologist (Ralph Fiennes) to excavate her property for burial hummocks. During the event, World War II is on its way to Great Britain and, at the same time, the archaeologist finds the historical significant discovery. They’ve found artifacts and warriors’ remains underneath. Back in the time, they couldn’t make any further progress because of WWII looming.
There were three excavations at all at Sutton Hoo fields. Today, at the British Museum are many excavated remains of warriors and their horses buried about 1,400 years ago. Brown, the archaeologist, wrote in his diary back in 1939, “it’s the find of a lifetime”.
